Project: girlhealth.org
Through a grant of $10,000, the Three Guineas Fund has assisted GirlSource, a San Francisco-based nonprofit, in the development of a web component to its previous work—the creation of a health and life book, It's About Time, created by and for young women. GirlSource was launched in the fall of 1998, to increase low-income young women's capacity to lead healthy lives. The girlhealth.org project trains young women in web development and design so that they can build and maintain an interactive web version of the book. Through this project, participants gain a wide range of job, technology, leadership, and life skills in a hands-on, paid program. In addition, GirlSource is developing a gender-based web training curriculum that has the potential to be incorporated into other programs nationally.
