Women's Technology Cluster Spins Off
BACK TO 3GF NEWS

On March 31, 2003, the Three Guineas Fund and the Women's Technology Cluster (WTC) completed a six month transition establishing the WTC as an independent non-profit organization with its own governing board and executive leadership.

The Three Guineas Fund launched the Women's Technology Cluster in 1999 as an entrepreneurial model for creating economic opportunity for women.  Three Guineas provided the WTC with financial support, fiscal sponsorship, management services and space.  Since 1999, the WTC has become a hub of women's entrepreneurship in the San Francisco Bay Area, and incubated 45 companies that have raised over $100 million.  In 2002, Three Guineas extended the WTC model to provide incubation opportunities for social entrepreneurs, through the Social Entrepreneurship Incubator (SEI).  As part of the transition to an independent 501(c)(3), the WTC and SEI will be moving to downtown San Francisco offices in Summer 2003.

Sincere appreciation is extended to the strategic partners, foundations, corporations, and government entities who have been critical to the success of the WTC and the SEI, including: Panasonic, W.K. Kellogg Foundation, the San Francisco Foundation, Nokia/Innovent, Reve Foundation, Gilo Foundation, The Level Playing Field Institute, Fenwick & West, LLP, Preston|Gates|Ellis LLP, the State of California, and the City of San Francisco.

The Board and staff of the Three Guineas Fund are proud of the accomplishments of the Women's Technology Cluster and are excited about the organization's continued success.
